America’s golden age: Ford’s “personal car of distinction”.
The story
Ford Thunderbird
The 1957 Ford Thunderbird embodies the golden age of American motoring and marks the start of a legendary saga. Built from 1955 to 1957, this first generation totals 53,166 examples.
Conceived as a response to the Chevrolet Corvette, it embodies the American dream of the GT convertible coupé. The 1957 model, designed by George W. Walker, draws on futuristic concept cars: a redesigned front bumper, enlarged grille and electrically adjustable “Dial-o-Matic” seats.
Powered by a 4.8-litre V8 (optional 5.1 L, up to 345 hp in supercharged form), its emblematic white body makes it a centrepiece, highly sought-after by collectors worldwide.
